From the beginning, Adventure Credit Union has been a not-for-profit organization owned and governed by its members. Our focus has always been on helping members live the lives they want to live.

Every credit union in existence today is an evolution of the people that came before us and the ideals that they held.

  • 1936: Originally founded as Grand Rapids Telephone Employees Credit Union.
  • 1973: Name changed to Bell Telephone Credit Union
  • 1983: Name changed to Bell Com Credit Union.
  • 1988: Corporate office on 32nd Street in Grand Rapids was built.
  • 1995: Contracted with Service Centers Corporation to add service locations across Michigan.
  • 2006: Obtained Service Center location on Alpine Avenue.
  • 2006: Merged with Financial Health Credit Union, expanding the credit union into Lansing. The combined organization was rebranded as Option 1 Credit Union.
  • 2016: Option 1 Credit Union rebrands as Adventure Credit Union.
  • 2025: Merged with Astera Credit Union, again increasing the credit union’s presence in Lansing.
  • 1949: Members of United Auto Workers local 602, originally founded Lansing Fisher Federal Credit Union to serve employees of Fisher Body.
  • 1949: Name is changed to Lansing Fisher Employees Federal Credit Union.
  • 1956: Name is changed to Auto Body Employees Federal Credit Union.
  • 1965: Name is changed to Auto Body Federal Credit Union.
  • 1968: Credit union adopts a state charter; drops “Federal” from name.
  • 1981: Merged with Co-Op Credit Union of Lansing, establishing a second location.
  • 1986: A third location of Auto Body Credit Union is opened.
  • 2008: Auto Body Credit Union merges with Auto Body Workers Credit Union of Ionia, gaining a fourth location.
  • 2024: Merged into Adventure Credit Union.
  • 1936: Founded as Motor Wheel Credit Union in Lansing, MI to serve employees of the Motor Wheel Corporation – a supplier to Michigan’s automobile manufacturers.
  • 1984: Expand services by opening field of membership.
  • 1985: Changed name to Motor Wheel Metro Area Credit Union.
  • 1986: Changed name to Metro Plus Credit Union.
  • 1997: Changed name to Financial Health Credit Union.
  • 2005: Obtained Service Center location on South Cedar Street.
  • 2006: Financial Health Credit Union merges with Bell Com Credit Union, becoming Option 1.

I have been with Adventure Credit Union for over thirty years. My original credit union had gone through a couple of name changes in the past, but the service has always remained the same.

Adventure Credit Union is a full-service credit union in Michigan with branches in the Greater Grand Rapids and Lansing areas. All those who live, work, worship or attend school in the State of Michigan are eligible to join.
